Exciting News: This year will be the 5th year of RCS SOX 3 day Trail Run and we will celebrate it by adding a SOX LITE option.

Only 100 pairs and 100 solo’s for RCS SOX! And only 150 Solo Runners will be allowed for the SOX LITE option. Please note, NO prize money for SOX LITE, only Prizes.

More Exciting News! Our Race Village will this year be at the Fairy Knowe hotel, 1km from Ebb and Flow National Park. The whole hotel will be booked out for the SOX athletes and Fairy Knowe give us great rates. All meals and the race briefings will be at the Fairy Knowe hotel. Day 1: 29km (Outeniqua Mountains),
Day 2: 30km (Knysna Forest),
Day 3: 21km (Wilderness Coast line)

SOX Trail run, included in the entry fee:
– 3 day challenge in the unspoilt beauty of the Garden Route. Each day will be unique in that Day 1 will take competitors on a challenging 30km route into the Outeniqua Mountains. Day 2 will be something completely different – 30km of spectacular trails through beautiful Indigenous Forests. Day 3 will conclude with a 19km trail on our spectacular coast line.
– 3 Stages of pure trail running on well-marked routes in pristine areas that are usually not accessible to runners
– Unforgettable trail running along the scenic Outeniqua Hiking Trail and Knysna Forest
– Permission from Sanparks and Cape Pine to use their area
– Events fees to Sanparks and Cape Pine for using their areas each day
– Official Race apparel TBA

Registration and Late Entries:
Pre-entries for the event will close 25 July 2015. No late entries will be accepted.
Registration for the event will be Friday 7 August 2015 from 12:00 – 18:00 with a compulsory race briefing afterwards.

Compulsory Equipment (for your own safety):

As a precaution, we would like you to carry the following compulsory equipment with you during your run. It is for your own personal safety. Please adhere to the following:

  • Cell phone (on roaming please)
  • zip lock bag to keep phone dry
  • Space blanket
  • Backpack
  • Long Thermal base layer (pants and top)
  • Whistle
  • Hat
  • Emergency food
  • Water bottles
  • Sunscreen (factor 50)
  • Outer shell jacket (waterproof)
  • First aid kit

Please ensure that you have the compulsory equipment with you at all times during race as conditions change quickly.

How to get there:

The Wilderness Section of the Garden Route National Park is situated close to the N2 highway, 15km from George, 2km from Wilderness village, 410km from Port Elizabeth and 450km from Cape Town. The closest airport is at George, where car hire facilities are available. Guests visiting Wilderness’ Ebb & Flow Rest Camp, please note the road sign on the N2 to the Park reads Wilderness National Park and not Ebb & Flow. Guests can also use the western access through the town of Wilderness across the rail road bridge and turn right for the reception.

Bookings are open for the afbSOX Trail Run, to book your massage from the 8th to 9th August 2015.  Massages are half an hour time slots for R200 per person.  We have times available from 12:00 until 17:00, and then 18:00 until 21:00.  The massages will be at the afbSOX race village, Ebb and Flow, Wilderness.  Please email us at sox@pureenergysportstherapy.co.za, to book your slot.

 

 

 

 

Enter/Register

Please note that your entry will not be registered once submitted unless payment is completed via the PayFast portal. Once submitted, entry can not be amended and you will need to contact Janine

Cancelation Policy

Athletes wanting to cancel will forfeit the following part of their entry fee:

20% of the entry fee will be retained for admin costs, the balance refunded if written notice is received before 8 May 2015.
50% of the entry fee will be refunded if written notice is received before 8 June 2015.
25% of the entry fee will be refunded if written notice is received from 9 June  to 18 July 2015
0% will be refunded after 18 July 2015, if a goody bag is applicable it will still be available the athlete

Transfers

Athletes cancelling may transfer their entry to another person, but that person will have to accept that changes to sizes etc. of clothing in the goody bag may not be able to be made if they are not available – when goody bags are applicable.
20% of Entry fee will be charged for any transfers for admin costs.
Entries may unfortunately not be transferred to 2016.

Accommodation

We want to encourage all Runners to book accommodation at the Fairy Knowe hotel (Race Village this year) or at Ebb-and-Flow Race Village.

The vibe will be vibrant and exciting. Bookings must be done through the  SOX Race Office – the whole Hotel and Resort is booked out for this Event.
Please do not book on your own at Fairy Knowe Hotel or at SANParks, it will cause us having double bookings.
There are limited Rooms atFairy Knowe Hotel and limited Chalets and Cottages available and bookings will work on a first paid, first serve basis. Lots of Camping space – we can provide you with a tent. Each team member will receive his/her own tent, this will also include a mattress. You can also bring your own tent.

Cancellation policy

50% of the accommodation fee will be refunded if written notice is received before 8 April 2016.
25% of the accommodation fee will be refunded if written notice is received from 9 April to 18 July 2016

Unfortunately, no refunds will be made if cancellation is done after 18 July 2016.

There is an additional Daily Conservation Fee of R32 per day, per person that must be paid to Sanparks. Valid Wild Card Holders do not pay. This will be collected at Race Registration by Sanparks personnel on Friday, 5 August 2016.

Meals and Refreshments

Cooked meals served at the Fairy Knowe Hotel, can be booked either as an option when entering the race, or by contacting Janine at admin@trisport.co.za before 30 July 2016.  Unfortunately, no bookings for meals, can be made after this date, or during the event. :

There will be  coffee, tea and hot chocolate for sale at the Fairy Knowe Hotel.  The Bar will be open from 10:00 to 22:00 every day, where basic snacks like crisps, nuts and chocolates, will be sold.
